Domesday Villages Walk - Saturday 2nd February
Description
Kiveton Meaning ‘settlement in the hollow’, this village has existed since the Doomsday Book of 1086
Todwick Our second Doomsday village, there has been a village here since the time of the Norman Conquest.The name has varied many times over the centuries, being called Taewic,Toddwyke and Todewyk.
South Anston Our final village on the walk appears in the Doomsday Book as Litelanstan, and is thought to
be an original Anglo-Saxon settlement.The name Anston is thought to mean ‘a stone’, and there has been a great deal of quarrying in the area, with one still operating in the present day.
Come along and visit these three ancient villages on this relatively flat walk which is packed with interest. You’ll also visit ancient lanes, open farmland and enjoy excellent far-reaching views on this straightforward route which uses easy to follow footpaths and bridleways.

this postcode dosnt match up try s266np if its bruno who has put this in it can be expected bcos he has been shifting snow with a garden fork . ps i shall try this are we bringing food or a pub lunch etc.

I really enjoyed meeting the Shamblers yesterday evening, and do have enough energy to walk 5 miles tomorrow. I'll meet you at Kiveton Bridge Station.

im deffo on this 1 hope 2 have a ltl bit of banter if there is any blades on this walk hopefully alot of p..s taking if they lose 2nite . but i say this without laffin ha ha ha i do hope utd get into the play offs bcos evry1 knows what happens enuff said
