Yellowbelly and I recce'd this one today. I won't tell a lie - there is a lot of "uphill" - but it is Derbyshire and when you have done the climbs you are rewarded with some wonderful views. It was a bit misty today but if we get a clear day it will be spectacular. There is one very steep, muddy decline down to the River Derwent, which we follow all the way back to Baslow - so that bit is flat.

There are some photos in the gallery.

Waltzing Matilda, the first description is accurate. There is just quite a lot of rolling hills! If I had not told you and you had only found out on the walk you would have moaned at me, now wouldn't you? confused

Its all the walking we do WT - we have been in so many 50/50s that the law of averages says we should win a few times. D

Description 1 - was from the website. This was what we were checking with the recce, to find out how 'accurate' it was. Description 2 - was from the recce - this is an accurate description after we were there yesterday checking it out for you all. It is a Derbyshire walk, so we can all guess there will be some hills/inclines. However, we were responding to a request for a Thursday daytime walk in Derbyshire, but cannot remember who was the person making the request. It is not any easy walk. The first part climbs up to get the fantastic views and some of the footpaths are uneven and wet (the snow has thawed). Comparing the walk to the ones done recently on a Thursday, this is much harder, so it is up to walkers themselves to make the call and decide if they want or are able to 'go for it.' There are lots of other Thursday walks planned over the next three months that are much easier than this. Love the humour on the threads but do detect some concern behind them. The intention of this long post was to respond to these concerns if they exist! grouphug
