General Meeting, The Old Queens Head, Thursday 13th January
General Meet, Thursday 13th January, The Old Queens Head, 40 Pond Hill
Sheffield, South Yorkshire S1 2BG @ 7pm
About every three months the Shamblers organisers like to hold a general get together to encourage ideas from members for walks and socials for the following few months. It's also an opportunity for people to get together to socialise, and to talk shop!
On the 13th of January we are holding our latest meeting which will be a bit different to the previous ones, as we are hopefully going to have some guest speakers, to be followed by a presentation by the Shamblers organisers.
The guest speakers we are hoping to have on the night are an Edale Mountain Rescue representative, and our very own local historian friend, writer Albert Jackson. The ELR man will be telling us what their organisation is all about, and Albert will be telling us about his historical walks in Sheffield, and what new ones he can offer to us.
The organisers presentation will entail each one of us briefly saying what our role is in the group, to be followed by a question and answer session, and the opportunity for people to make suggestions as to what they would like us to do in the future. We will also be hoping for some walk suggestions as usual, because we need members to tell us of places they would like us to plan walks for rather than us decide where we are going.
The last time we held one of these meetings was in the autumn and the venue was the Hillsborough Hotel. On that night we were astounded when more than 30 people turned up and crammed themselves in to the small conservatory that we had reserved for ourselves there. This time, we have hired the dining room at the venue, which will hold about 40 people.
So why not come along for a free night out in the company of 2 fascinating people, and have a say in the future of the group. Everybody is welcome, regulars or not.
Please post if you are interested in coming along, so we have rough numbers, thanks!

We will be coming to this & having a bite to eat @6ish before the meeting starts (just for research purposes - to see how it compares to our previous venue - which we will no longer be frequenting!)

Awww, you'll never be "lonely" as far as I'm concerned, and you can come and sit with us no problem. I don't think the 12 seats reserved for food is fixed in stone.

Re: General Meeting, The Old Queens Head, Thursday 13th January
There are only 10 down for food, but I anticipated 1 or 2 adding on later :)
Also, we can move more tables together anyway - just thought it was polite to warn them of our earlier presence, that's all.
