I am rubbish with a camera but have been thinking of treating myself to a new one so you never know. Will need your help though Hemmy & Starry. I have had my phone for 18 months and didn't know how to work the camera on New Years Eve!

There was talk about us doing our own photography walk a few months ago. Would any of you fancy doing this on a Saturday? Perhaps roping Jodie in, I think she'd like to have some involvement, she's been asking me about walk training too.
Just a suggestion.

Myself and Bruno were discussing this today and this page has come from that discussion I think- I'd love to do a photography walk my main reason for this being I want to know how to use my camera better and we therefore need some expert assistance I think and therein lies the problem! Think it'd be worth going and seeing what these walks can offer and maybe asking them to do a walk for us? But i guess it'll depend what they're like and how much they may charge for such things?! hmmm tricky

It is run by derby city photographic club been for a look round on their site and there are some impressive photos. They charge £15 a year to join and £2 per meeting, what I think they are doing on these walks is probably a bit of self promotion and getting out at the same time. Great idea especially if those of you that are interested get some knowledge and enjoyment out of it.

Good point Bruno!!
I've just been looking on google for other options and there's a group I've just joined on facebook that may be worth looking more into- although think it may just be web based.

Rose and alex would be very interested in photography walks. Alex would be able to give advice on camera use for beginners.

I'd be happy to offer any advice and assistance as requested.

Most people seem to be interested in learning how to use their cameras better, that's possibly best not done while out walking, but sitting in a warm room with a cup of tea. Once those basics are sorted out then a walk is a great way to put what has been learnt into practise, followed by a critique of what has been taken.

Maybe we need to arrange a sit down with Jayemm and a cuppa then?!

I've rung the Northern College re their digital imaging course which is on end Jan (fri 6-8pm, sat 9.30-4.30 and sun 9.30-12.30). Whilst this course sounds good as you take your camera and they go through everything you can do with it, it also then goes onto the downloading of pics and printing off of them- which i can do. They're going to send me some more info.

Think if we could do something ourselves that begun with how camera works and then onto walk and critique as Jayemm said then that'd be fab..... what do others think?

I think since shamblers is a walking group it has to have a walk as a main focus

Suggestion then - whirlowbrook park, or Endcliffe park. Both have a good cafe, interesting landscapes and features, and potential for longer walks. We could concentrate on form, composition and angles.

I'm up for Endcliffe part as it seems central, but will go with the flow, or seen as you are teaching us you decide :)

Is there any update on this? Think we'd mentioned it being the beginning of March which is not long off! I need to arrange a trip home but don't want to miss this but could do with some forewarning for this
