Saturday 16th April - walk and day out in York.

Saturday 16th April - walk and day out in York.
A day out with a difference:
Saturday 16th April - walk and day out in York.
For insurance, and common sense reasons, it is a requirement that people put their names down in advance if they intend to come on a Shamblers walk.
Walk: York City Centre
Date:Saturday 16th April
Start time: Meet 10.45 am
Meeting point: Outside York Train Station
Approx distance: 3 miles ( can be extended by walking along river as far as you wish)
Approx duration: 1 1/2 hours
Route: York City centre including Rover Ouse, City walls, Shambles ( The Shamblers in the Shambles..........), Petergate, Minster etc.....
Terrain: Pavements and pathways.
Parking: I advise Tesco Park and Ride at Askham Bar, A1036. Free to park and about £2.30 return on the exciting bendy-bus into town ( It stops near the station). Post code for satnav/ map: YO24 1LW
Refreshments: Phew - loads from posh nice cafe's to pub lunches or eat your own sarnies on the city walls.
Toilets: Many public facilities of course
Public transport: Train 09.21am or 09.25am to arrive at 10.30am or 10.39am. Check prices and details online at thetrainline.com
Walk Leaders: Hippiechick, Tiddlywink
Additional information: This is more of a grand day out. After the walk you will be able to take your pick form the activites on offer: shopping, museums, river cruise etc etc.
Car Share: As this is a considerable distance, it will make a lot of sense to car share. I think it would be fair to allow drivers to decide on what contribution they will need as it will depend on how many are in each car. I would think abour £8 per person will be about right though in a car of 4 people ( only my suggestion though) :)

Won't work as friend coming to mine Friday then we're going to Lancaster Saturday for night out with more people from uni ...thus we aren't staying here so will be too distressing for my little head to try to organise! Also think you'd scare them

Going to do something that winds me up when other people do it, and say that we'll be a maybe for this. Can't do anything else at the moment cos of circumstances re trying to sell the house, but if we're not got anyone viewing, we'll be there!

Completely understand. Be great for you to be there - its a few weeks away but fingers crossed that your houses are sold by then. x

Sorry as much I'd love to join you for this, I'm afraid I can't as the Monkey Hangers are in town. Enjoy yourselves anyway.

I'll be coming on this one and bringing my 7 yr old granddaughter who loves history. She should be ok with the distance as I've had her walking 3 miles to Hillsborough before now

Gorgeous weather and great walk, despite the moaning 7yr old who was 'tired and sweaty' after 10 minutes!
I'm still working on her to do the write up for this walk!
