RESCHEDULED to 12th December - Graves Park - Ecclesall Woods - Sunday 5th December 2010

RESCHEDULED to 12th December, along with the Christmas meal


PLEASE confirm below whether you are going to be on the walk on the 12th December.
Also, please confirm on the Christmas meal thread in the Shamblers Socials section if you are able to come to the meal or not, thank you!

Graves Park/Beauchief/Ecclesall Woods Walk
It is a requirement for insurance and common sense reasons that people put their names down in advance for a Shamblers walk.

Date: 5th December 2010

Start time: Meet 10.15 for 10.30 start

Meeting point: New Inn, Hemsworth Road, S8 8LN

Approx distance: 6 miles

Approx duration: 3 hours

Route: New Inn - Graves Park - Lady's Spring Wood - Beauchief - Ecclesall Woods - Abbey Lane - Lady's Spring Wood - Graves Park - New Inn

Terrain: Mainly good paths, some muddy. No steep climbs.

Parking: New Inn

Refreshments: None en route

Toilets: As above

For the last 4 years we have chosen a Sunday close to Christmas to arrange a special get together, to get us in the mood so to speak, by booking somewhere to have a meal at the end of our walk. Last year we chose Castleton (for the third year running), and were rewarded with a snowstorm and a real battle to get back to Sheffield. What a day!

This year, we're staying a little nearer home at sunny Norton, where we've booked a private section of the New Inn for a four course meal that they offer, which including a free glass of wine costs £9.99 each, which is fantastic value for what you get which is a good choice on 3 of the courses, including vegetarian options, and a carvery for the meat eaters.

The walk will be a nice easy one along part of the Sheffield Round walk from Graves Park to Beauchief and back, details of which will be posted closer to the day.

So stick this in your diaries, and let's go and treat ourselves to a pre-Christmas nosh up and keep up our Shamblers reputation for being a sociable bunch alive and kicking!

Please could people put their names down on here if they are going on the walk, & the thread in the socials section for any posts re: the meal, thanks!
It was getting difficult to see who was walking & who was just having a meal, so, everyone needs to confirm here if they are walking.

Keep having blonde/age/menopausal moments. Also get my threads/posts mixed up. I know I've put my menu down for this somewhere but can't see it now. I'd like to walk and eat please. Computers really don't like me.
